Bloc Party - One More Chance (Alex Metric Remix)

Bloc Party usually have no problem making an incredible track on their own but this time around they've commissioned Alex Metric to do a remix of their track "One More Chance". The result? An absolutely killer remix of the song

They have my vote to keep teaming up...

Bloc Party Announce Intimacy

The boys in Bloc Party know how to throw a little curveball every now and again...and this time they announce the release of their third album Intimacy 3 days before the day of release.

The album will be available through the band's official website for pre-order for the August 21st digital release date. The physical release date will be for October 27th...but the good news is that if you order the physical album now you'll get a digital copy so you can hear it when everyone else does.

Bloc Party made fans aware of the ability to purchase the album instantly when they held their August 18th web chat with fans. The album follows the release of the UK single Mercury, which was released on August 11.

Its Bloc Party...therefore its going to be brilliant.

Likely Looks: Bloc Party - Mercury

Bloc Party came out of nowhere with a new video and single called "Mercury". The song premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show last night and I must say...its quite brilliant. Its a bit darker which I love and a bit less dancey which is a nice touch. Experimentation!

Here is the new video for "Mercury". Its a bit odd with all the animals and whatnot but I sort of dig it:

Also, sorry for the delay in posts. My trusty computer battery decided to officially die on me the other day so its been a struggle to get on line. Things will be back to normal starting tomorrow

More Banquet, Less Flux

Bloc Party has just wrapped up 2007 by playing in front of 10,000 people in London at the Alexandra Palace...but that doesn't mean they don't have their next album on their minds.

According to Kele and Matt, Bloc Party seems to be keen on revisiting the sound they first debuting on to the scene with on "Silent Alarm". "I want to have more songs like Banquet...", but Kele butted in: "Having released Flux more songs like Flux, there's no point looking back at our achievements, just look ahead at where are are going, I am really focused on the new record."

Kele also states, "Flux isn't an indication at all about the next record... The important thing about this record for me was that it showed we could do anything we wanted, we weren't going to settle for being any other guitar band of 2007. Luckily it was successful."

To be honest, Bloc Party can do whatever the hell they want (within reason i guess) and it will be fantastic.

Bloc Party Live @ WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden

Honestly, god bless Bloc Party. Can this band EVER do anything wrong?

On Wednesday, Bloc Party played their biggest headline gig ever in New York at the WAMU Theater at Madison Square Garden. I was a bit worried about how they were going to bring the energy to a massive group of people sitting in a big theater but SOMEHOW it worked...and brilliantly.

The set list was filled with a lot of the great stuff off of "Silent Alarm", a few tracks from "A Weekend In The City" and of course, the highlights (for me at least) were the new track "Flux" and the b-side "The once and Future King".

Here is a video of Flux from the gig *just in case* you missed it on Conan last night:

Also, Flux comes out November 12th in the UK. Get out your wallets for the import kids

Bloc Party and Albert Hammond Jr - United Palace Theater March 31st

One the last night of the first leg of their US tour, Bloc Party find themselves at 175th and Broadway at the United Palace Theater. They shared the experience with most in the house as their first (or second in their case) time in the venue.

Its a bit weird seeing Bloc Party in the seated venue because of the energy they put forth in a show. The last time I saw them was a couple of weeks ago at Stubbs in Austin and with a few drinks in me my dance moves came out of nowhere as I couldn't stop moving. I even went into the pit with a dress on...but thats a whole different story. Back to the United Palace Theater gig...

After a while, people got the hint that seeing a Bloc Party show seated totally blows so the crowd rushed to the front of the stage. After this the whole vibe changed and the band really started to get into the gig.

Everything was totally solid and when the old stuff from "Silent Alarm" came on it was total chaos.

Note to anyone going to the venue:
Pee before/after you get there
Drink before/after you get there
Take the bus/train because its impossible to find parking

Here is the set list:
* Song For Clay (Disappear Here)
* Positive Tension
* Hunting For Witches
* Waiting for the 7:18
* Banquet
* I Still Remember
* This Modern Love
* Little Thoughts
* The Prayer
* Uniform
* So Here We Are
* Like Eating Glass
* Encore: Sunday
* She's Hearing Voices
* Pioneers
* Helicopter

(thanks to Music Snobbery for this one)

Also, a must mention is the lovely Albert Hammond Jr who definitely has come out of his shell to create a brilliant debut Yours To Keep. Its definitely Strokes influenced...but what do you expect from a boy thats been in the same band since the beginning of the 21st century. Plus, he does a cover of Guided By Voices' "Postal Blowfish" on the album and live...how can you go wrong with that??!!!!
