With Madonna being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2008 its time to break out the champagne (or one of the best Madonna covers ever) and celebrate.

Alan Donohue (singer of The Rakes) teamed up with Groove Armada to create a killer Madonna cover of "Crazy For You"

Likely Looks: The Rakes "The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Perfect"

Neither of us broads have really spoken out about how great the new Rakes album is. Sure, it doesn't have the same guilty, drunken, renegade 20-something without a cause feel as their debut, but it's got some perspective. Take their latest single "The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Perfect." As the name suggests, it's a jab against all those dirty, pretty things queuing up outside the newest hipster hotspot, oblivious to the headlines or anyone else.

The video for the song captures that aloof quality, featuring the band as apathetic hairdressers (not on fire). Check it out...



Though the hyperactive tracks seem to be The Rakes' forte, my personal favorite would have to be the ballad-esque "Little Superstitions." Listen for yourself...

The Rakes Get Fashionable

Lead singer of The Rakes has taken the trail of singer turned model and is now the face of Fred Perry for the company's 2007 global campaign.

Richard Martin (head of Marketing for Fred Perry worldwide) said:
"It made sense to work with The Rakes as we know the band are big fans and wear our product. I think they typify the spirit of Fred Perry... both never follow the crowd and are distinctive in look and sound."

Their single "We Danced Together" (which is fucking brilliant) comes out in the UK March 12th. As for the US, the band was on V2 so who knows where their home will be :(

The Rakes are coming! The Rakes are coming! With their biggest tour coming up, the band have decided to play a handful of intimate gigs that are sure to be amazing
