Likely Listens: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - The Death Of You And Me

Noel Gallagher is back and FINALLY we have some music to check out! Just released is the brand new video for "The Death Of You ANd Me", the first single off Noel's upcoming album which is set for release in the U.S. November 10th.

The track reminds me a lot of "The Importance Of Being Idle" off of Oasis' 2005 release "Don't Believe The Truth"...but knowing Noel he's had this song in his back pocket for years.

Regardless of when it was written and where it came from, its nice to hear some new material from the man that wrote some of the best songs written EVER.

Looks Like Oasis Won't Be Playing China

Well, it would have been cool, but the Chinese government has pulled the plug on Oasis' two dates in China in April.

According to a statement from the band, "Representatives from the Chinese government have revoked the performance licenses already issued for the band and ordered their shows in both Beijing and Shanghai to be immediately canceled".

Therefore the April 3 date in Beijing and April 5 date in Shanghai are no more.

The reasons behind it? Well, one of them was noted at Noel Gallagher's solo performance at 1997's Tibetan Freedom concert. As a result the government "deemed that the band are ... unsuitable to perform to their fans in the Chinese Republic."

Sorry China!

Likely Looks: Oasis - Falling Down

Oasis has a good swipe at the Royal Family on the latest video for "Falling Down".

Directed by WIZ, the clip shows a fake royal princess being completely snubbed by the band at an event that they are both attending. She goes to shake their hands and gets well...nothing but a stare.

They've even managed to throw in a little bit of real life too with Prince Charles being spliced into the mix at the end.

Here is the video:

Dig Out Your Soul In The Streets!

Yesterday, Oasis debuted their much anticipated short documentary about the street performers that debuted several songs off their current album, "Dig Out Your Soul"

The original rumor was that Oasis was going to be dropping in and playing a special street gig and making an appearance to play with one of the 30 buskers they appointed to perform their songs. It obviously never happened though as A-We all would have heard about it and B-The stupid asshole from Canada who broke Noel's ribs unfortunately caused the Terminal 5 gig to be canceled.

Anyway, here's the documentary...its a good one so be sure to put 18 minutes aside from your day and watch it!

Oasis At Madison Square Garden 12/17

The last time Oasis stepped foot in Madison Square Garden it was June 22, 2005. 3 years later they still have the ability to sell it out and blow a crowd away with the perfect set list of old classics and new favorites.

Of course, the crowd favorite were Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger. There was even some love shown for Lyla which was quite nice as that's on the newer side of things.

Oasis still haven't lost it after all these years...they can carry a show with just their attitude and good tunes and people will still go mental. Did I mention how incredible both Liam and Noel sounded last night as well? Incredible. God bless Oasis.

As for the set list, here it is:

Rock 'n' Roll Star
Lyla
The Shock Of The Lightning
Cigarettes & Alcohol
The Meaning Of Soul
To Be Where There's Life
Waiting For The Rapture
The Masterplan
Songbird
Slide Away
Morning Glory
Ain't Got Nothin'
The Importance Of Being Idle
I'm Outta Time
Wonderwall
Supersonic

Encore:
Don't Look Back In Anger
Falling Down
Champagne Supernova
I Am The Walrus

Here are loads of video clips so you can feel like you were there if you missed it:

Likely Looks: Oasis - I'm Outta Time

Oasis have decided to hit the sappier side of things in their new video for "I'm Outta Time". The video features Liam walking through a psychedelic English countryside singing as he goes...nothing mind blowing but its still a great track.

The single will be out December 1 in the UK.

Oasis Cancel New York Show

The show at Terminal 5 in New York was just too good to be true. After the attack on Noel at Virgin Festival in Toronto, his injuries are just too intense to perform tomorrow night.

Here is the statement from Oasis' official site:

"As a result of the incident on Oasis' Canadian tour, when Noel was attacked by a stage invader Oasis, are now being forced to announce that tomorrow night's show at Terminal 5, New York cannot go ahead as planned.

Noel fell heavily on to his monitor speakers when he was pushed suddenly from behind by his attacker and suffered bruising to his ribs and hip. Unfortunately, he still has not recovered from his injuries and so he will not be able to perform tomorrow.

All tickets can be refunded at point of purchase."

Oasis already cancelled their show in London, Ontario...guessing the next time they come around wll be December at Madison Sqaure Garden. Ugh.

Oasis Postpone Tonight's Show In London, Ontario

After being attacked on stage the other night at the Virgin Festival in Toronto, Noel Gallagher has been advised to not perform at tonight's show in London, Ontario. Advice taken...the date is now postponed.

Fans that have purchased tickets for the show will be able to use them for the new date on December 15, 2008. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.

Here are all the details according to the official website:

"Following an incident during Oasis' performance at the Virgin Festival in Toronto, when Noel was attacked by a stage invader Oasis are regrettably being forced to announce that tonight's show in London, Ontario cannot go ahead as planned.

Noel fell heavily on to his monitor speakers when he was pushed suddenly from behind by his attacker and suffered bruising to his ribs and hip. He was examined in a local hospital after the band's performance and has been advised to rest. Unfortunately, despite resting up yesterday, the extent of his injuries mean he will not be able to perform tonight. The band are very keen to complete their Canadian tour and the final London, Ontario show will now be rescheduled to Monday the 15th December. Ticket holders are asked to retain their tickets which will be valid for the new date. Refunds for those unable to attend can be made at point of ticket purchase."

If you missed the clip of Noel being attacked, well here it is. He went flying...

Talk about crap security...how the hell did they let at 47 year old dork on stage to be able to push Noel?

New Oasis! The Shock Of The Lightning

Its here! The new Oasis single has arrived! If you haven't heard The Shock Of The Lightning yet then head over to Dead Flowers to listen.

Thoughts?

Here are mine...I love it. Surprised? Probably not.

Reason why: Its sounding like the older more passionate Oasis yet a bit more mature. Could you ask for anything more at the point the band are at?

Jay Z "Throws It Back" To Oasis

After words were thrown between Oasis and Jay Z, it seemed that Jay had won the battle...and Jay Z felt the need to rub it in Noel's face a little more.

Jay Z joined Kayne West on stage the other night at his gig at Madison Square Garden and the performance is brilliant. Jay even throws in the word "bloke" in his rhyme...how crafty.

Jay-Z Covers Wonderwall at Glastonbury

I guess there are no hard feelings with Jay-Z and Noel Gallagher anymore considering he covered "Wonderwall" at Glastonbury.

Jay Z clearly can't sing...but it was a good try. He also clearly didn't know the words...at least the crowd got to hear Liam's vocals throughout or it would have been a bit painful.

Sunday Video Rewind: Oasis - D'You Know What I Mean

In 1997, I remember waiting anxiously for this video to premiere on 120 Minutes and sitting directly in front of the TV to the point where my eyes began to hurt. 11 years later and the video is still wicked...

Now with modern technology I can watch it when I want and where I want on YouTube.

Oasis Confirm September Release

Little is known about the upcoming Oasis album but slowly everything is piecing together.

As of last night, Noel spilled the beans on Russell Brand's Radio 2 show that the album would be released in September! The official date wasn't announced due to Noel claiming would "tell him off" for letting the date slip.

Get ready for the tour dates to pour in...

Robbie Williams and Oasis...Will The Feud Ever End?

Now that we all know Oasis has parted ways with Zak Starkey its surfaced that the new drummer is none other than Robbie Williams drummer, Chris Sharrock.

Robbiw has been having some issues with his label EMI and has been out of the spotlight for quite some time. What's his drummer to do? Oh that's right...go drum for one of your enemies. That sounds like a good plan.

Ahhhh...the good times

Oasis Has a Line Up Change?

Before Oasis hit the road again they might be seeing a change in their line up. Rumor has it that drummer Zak Starkey and Noel Gallagher have been having their disagreements as of lately and its highly unlikely that he will be joining Oasis on the road.

“There have been arguments with NOEL GALLAGHER and general disagreements. It looks like the album will be his last involvement with the band", claims a source close to the band.

Roll in drummer #4 please...

New Oasis Tracks Leak Online

Well, its no surprise that new Oasis tracks have leaked online...the catch is that these tracks have been floating around for some time in the fan community.

The tracks that have "leaked" are "Stop The Clocks", "Nothin' On Me", and "I Wanna Live My Dream (In A Record Machine)" and are from 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth" demos. Regardless, now they will be up for grabs around the internet and you should give them a listen. In fact, give them a lot of listens. Its Oasis...they never do anything bad.

Here they are courtesy of YouTube (sorry for the lack of MP3s!):
