Maximo Park To Play At London's Forum For Charity

Maximo Park have teamed up with Blood Red Shoes, Pete and the Pirates and Mystery Jets for a very special gig at London's Forum in support of The Royal Marsden Hospital and the No Surrender Charitable Trust on May 28th.

After Maximo Park's good friend, Jason Boas, was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, the band took action and put together the gig.

“When someone you know is up against cancer it makes sense to give them your full support. Since that is currently the case, and that person is being treated at The Royal Marsden hospital, which was recently damaged by fire, we decided to do what we can as a band. What we do best is play concerts and we intend to give all profit from our gig at The Forum to help rebuild the cancer unit where they not only look after sufferers but continue to further our knowledge and treatment of the disease. We've never been a preachy band or asked people to shell out daft amounts for tickets, but this show will be well worth the entry fee for a number of reasons.”, says Paul Smith.

Tickets are priced at £20 and go on sale from 9am on April 9th and are available from:

Likely Looks: Maximo Park - Karaoke Plays

The fact that Maximo Park utilized a party bus for their latest video, "Karaoke Plays" basically made my day.

Maximo Park - Karaoke Plays

"Karaoke Plays" is out December 3rd in the UK (of course...you think the US would be cool enough to release a Maximo Park single?!)

Maximo Park Does Jimmy Kimmell

Maximo Park has really grown on me lately and so has their latest album "Our Earthly Pleasures". Paul Smith lightens up on the kung fu for this Jimmy Kimmel performance but still dances a load and manages to take his coat off mid song.

Here is the video of "Girls Who Play Guitars" on Jimmy Kimmel:

Likely Looks: Maximo Park - Girls Who Play Guitars

Maximo Park Live At Webster Hall

Maximo Park is a band I have missed time and time again when they come to New York. Finally, last week I got the opportunity to see Newcastle's finest perform to a packed (and mental!) house at Webster Hall.

Paul Smith has always been one to entertain. I am sure he's taken a load of karate classes because at the rate he is goes on stage it appears he's a black belt. The crowd was so into it...I was almost blown away by the reaction the band was getting for each song. Singers, jumpers...and I don't think they were Brits for once!

Hopefully, they come back around because I won't miss them again...ever!

Here is the set list:

'Graffiti'
'A Fortnight's Time'
'Now I'm All Over The Shop'
'Our Velocity'
'Parisian Skies'
'The Coast Is Always Changing'
'Girls Who Play Guitars'
'Want You To Stay'
'Karaoke Plays'
'Books From Boxes'
'By The Monument'
'Apply Some Pressure'
'Your Urge'
'The Unshockable'
'Going Missing'
'Nosebleed'
'Limassol'

Their sophomore release Our Earthly Pleasures is out now on Warp Records.

Maximo Park's New Video For "Books From Boxes"

Here's the deal with Maximo Park and me...they are one of those bands that I can forgive for doing stupid things. Now the new video for "Books From Boxes" I don't LOVE but I can forgive them for it

Who cares..the song is brilliant as is the new record "Our Earthly Pleasures".
