Florence and the Machines Hearts Kelly Clarkson

Florence and the Machine teamed up with Mark Ronson at the Diesel U:Music Studios to do a lovely cover of Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone". Florence of course adds an absolutely lovely set of pipes to her take on the pop classic.

This song might be covered almost as often as "Umbrella" was back in the day or Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy".

Amy Wnehouse Records The Bond Theme with Mark Ronson

Amy Winehouse is getting her life back together...finally! She's in the process of recording her third album and YES she's scored the Bond theme!

Once again, she's teamed up with Mark Ronson, who went to her flat in London and picked up all the necessary gear to record the track at his country retreat in Henley. They have nothing planned but apparently the film is quite dark; and well, so is Amy.

Likely Looks: Mark Ronson - Just

Its a good thing that Mark Ronson didn't get all creative when he was thinking about what the video for "Just" should have been like. If he did I think it would have been...bad.

Its a cute play on an originally brilliant video...

Mark Ronson Live @ Webster Hall

Its no surprise that I went to Mark Ronson on Frday at Webster Hall...Version is by far one of my top records of the year and the show at Highline Ballroom was one of my favorite gigs of the year.

Unfortunately, the show at Webster Hall didn't deliver like I had hoped it would. It was pretty much the same setlist from the Highline show and the special guests were no surprise this time around. They even had Alex from Phantom Planet to come out and do "Just" and then go straight into "California".

It was still a good show...this time around the crowd was a little more spread out as the show wasn't sold out. Also, Daniel Merriweather performed a new track which was fantastic...

If you've never seen Ronson then go. If you have and sort of feel like skipping the gig then I don't blame you.

Likely Looks: Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse - Valerie

Mark Ronson can pull all the celebrities in for recording tracks but when it comes to music videos it just doesn't happen.

Here is the new video for "Valerie" (of course the fantastic Zutons cover) sans Wino. Taking her place are the "Winettes" and ummm...they definitely don't come close to Amy.

Side note: I miss Ronson on the decks

Mark Ronson Plays (Yes PLAYS!) Highline Ballroom NYC

Its no surprise that Mark Ronson decided to make his U.S. live debut in his now home town of New York. Filling Highline Ballroom to the brim and strapping on an electric guitar, Ronson performed tracks off his album Version opening with "Inversion".

No album with guest vocalists would be complete without a show with guest vocalists. Alex Greenwald from Phantom Planet stepped in to do his cover of Radiohead's "Just" before launching into the OC classic "California" as well as Daniel Merriweather performing "Stop Me" to finish off the set. No Amy or Lily stepping in to do their guest vocals...but helping out a bit with "Valerie" was Tawiah.

Ronson barely touched a turntable and no one fucking cared. Fantastic gig and proof that Ronson can do a hell of a lot more then make good records...

Here is the setlist (courtesy of NME.com):
'Inversion'
'God Put A Smile'
'Toxic'
'Apache'
'Good Girls'
'Ooh Wee'
'Didunt Didunt'
'Pretty Green'
'Amy'
'Just'
'California'
'Clap/Stomp'
'Valerie'
'Stop Me'

Mark Ronson Makes U.S. Live Debut

I know, I know...I don't shut up about Mark Ronson. Sorry...but "Version" is just too good of a record (well, mostly) and Ronson is too good of a DJ to NOT mention the upcoming live and DJ dates in NYC.

Here are the dates:
Brooklyn, NY McCarren Park Pool - DJ set (July 8)
New York, NY Highline Ballroom - Live show (11) US DEBUT!
New York, NY Love - DJ Set (11)

The McCarren Park Pool date is FREE courtesy of JellyNYC. The Superchunk gig last week was loads of fun so don't miss another one...and go see Mark Ronson!!!

Mark Ronson ft. Lily Allen - Oh My God

Mark Ronson seems to be making video after video these days for the tracks off his upcoming album (already out in the UK though!) "Version". This time around he pairs with a cartoon version of Lily Allen to give the Kaiser Chiefs cover a bit of a kick

Also, check out the appearance of Ricky and co. as they get a little Lily loving in the end

I'm going to be honest...I'd rather the real Lily. Since when has she tried to be outwardly sexy like that?

Mark Ronson - New Video For "Stop Me"

After seeing Ronson DJ at the Hard Rock Cafe (open bar...I had to go!) and being a bit in love with *most* of the tracks on "Version" (which drops July 10th in the US) I had to share the new video for "Stop Me" with Daniel Merriweather

Nice Ronson appearances in the video as well!

Mark Ronson Tells You What To Listen To

It's not enough that he has his hands twidling knobs (wow, did I really just type that?) on all of our favorite UK hits, or the fact that he's got his own awesome album, Version coming out--no, no, nooow Mark Ronson has to dictate what music is worthy enough for his ears. But what great ears they are...

Ronson teamed up with Hard Rock Cafe to make the first in what will be a series of mixes curated by Ronson. He chose everything from the bouncy brit-pop of Kaisers Chiefs, the pint-size (bite-size?) PJ Harvey infused cover of "Wicked Game" by Giant Drag to... Buckcherry? We'll forgive him the one grievance. Maybe he's being ironic? Regardless, it's a great selection of songs that I have been mixed expertly by Ronson pal DJ Doug Grayson, and the best part is that you can download the entire thing right here:

Mark Ronson Presents Hard Rock Vol.1

And if you want to know what you're downloading, here is the tracklisting:

TRACKLISTING:
1. “Black Tambourine” - BECK
2. “I Like the Way” – BODY ROCKERS
3. “Everyday I Love You Less and Less” – KAISER CHIEFS
4. “To Be Young” – RYAN ADAMS
5. “Take Your Mama” – SCISSOR SISTERS
6. “Island in the Sun” - WEEZER
7. “Dimension” - WOLFMOTHER
8. “Destination Diamonds” – DIAMOND NIGHTS
9. “Black Betty” - SPIDERBAIT
10. “Bout to Get Ugly” – MARK RONSON feat RHYMEFEST and ANTHONY HAMILTON
11. “June Gloom” – THE LIKE
12. “Tropical Moonlight” - DOMINO
13. “Wicked Game” – GIANT DRAG
14. “Lit Up” - BUCKCHERRY

If you're like me and can't just own digital files and need the whole package, you can buy the CD exclusively from Hard Rock Cafe & Casino locations, and from the Hard Rock e-store here.

To boot, a dollar of every album sold will go to benefit "Water For Life," a Jay-Z baked charity that works towards bringing clean drinking water throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Handsome, talented and cares about the world. Sigh.

Mark Ronson Rocks A Mini Mix

Mark Ronson is such a good DJ...it kills me. Of course, he's got to show off his skill on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show and he kills it!

For a limited time you can download his Mini Mix on his MySpace which showcases some samples from his upcoming album "Version".

FYI, "Version" is now coming out on July 10th in the States.

Mark Ronson - Version

Mark Ronson found his way to my heart after being a part of two of my favorite albums in the last few years, LIly Allen "Alright, Still" and Amy Winehouse "Back To Black". Therefore I care about the release of "Version" which comes out June 12th.

You can stream the full album on Mark's MySpace now. The cover of "Valerie" with Winehouse, Lily's cover of the Kaiser Chiefs "Oh My God" and Mark's cover of Coldplay's "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" all equal absolute music bliss.

The fine folks at RCA also created a spiffy ecard which you can get here

Its good shit...I promise
