Radar On: Keep Shelly In Athens

Greece isn't really known for its budding music scene but every now and again this country produces music you just can't ignore. This time around, it's a duo from Athens that call themselves Keep Shelly In Athens.

Writing the most beautiful, etherial dream pop tracks with female vocals had me completely hooked upon first listen. Not much is known on the duo except they currently have a EP out entitled In Love With Dusk out on Forest Family Records. Getting a lot of comparisons to St. Etienne, the band presents the perfect soundtrack for any trance you feel like getting lost in at any time of day.

Check out the video for Running Out Of You from the band's debut EP here:

Likely Looks: Ke$ha - Blow

Oh Ke$ha, finally you've decided to put on a cocktail dress and ditch the dumpster look (which I think suits her very well and actually quite dig to be honest). Not only that but you managed to get James Van Der Beak and call him James Van Der Douche (amazing!) AND unicorns in your video. Pretty brilliant if you ask me.

Now, for your viewing pleasure:

Radar On: Gaggle

What happens when 20 girls get together and decide to form a band? One word: Gaggle. Made up of Alibi, Bennett, Coughlin, Culwick, D, Dana, Green, Gusset, Honey, Kiki, Kumari, Launette, Lipstick, Luddite, McClean, Missmiss, Namsoo, Polydorou, Strick, Wunderla who all go by pseudonym since they hold down normal day jobs.

Considered "beyond description" by the Time in the UK, the band calls themselves an all girl alt-choir that make music about booze, drugs and things you always wish women had the guts to sing about more often.

To get the true experience, check out their video for their song I Hear Flies...you'll be intrigued and then hooked. Promise.

Radar On: TRIBES

You may think Tribes is surely an American band circa the late 80's in the Northeast or early 90's in the Northwest but you are sorely mistaken on this one.

Actually, they are a band that formed in 2009 in London that got their start passing their demo out to friends and playing every possible gig in the London underground scene possible till the buzz really started to grow. Now, they are opening for everyone's new favorite band (so it seems), Mona.

There isn't too much music going around YET but you can listen to some of the demos at the band's Soundcloud and MySpace page.

For now, here is a live video of their track Whenever live at XOYO in London

Likely Looks: Radiohead - Lotus Flower

The 8th Radiohead album is HERE! Pushing the release up one day early, you can download The King Of Limbs now for your listening pleasure.

Most importantly, the brand new video for Lotus Flower has been released and features Thom Yorke alone in black and white showing off some fancy footwork. Absolutely gorgeous.

I will say no more...just watch.

Radar On: Blouse

Ahhh Portland...a city where over the years they have silently continued to put out great music without fail. 2011 sees another band that is hopefully going to break out of the "great local band" mold and get recognized. Name: Blouse. Sound: Dreamy shoegaze with breathy female vocals. Score: A+.

Featuring Charlie Hinton, Patrick Adams and Jacob Portrait, the Portland trio has released a video for their first single Into Black that lure's you in from the second Hinton softly sings the first note. Their video for the track is set to sequenced clips from Léos Carax's 1991 film Les Amants du Pont-Neuf which provide the perfect ambiance.
