Kate Nash has enough charm to make anyone absolutely fall in love with her work. Her video for her next single, "Pumpkin Soup" is absolutely darling...
Also, Kate is confirmed for Coachella...now who is next?!
Surprise! Amy Winehouse has canceled all remaining dates and public appearances based on the doctor's orders for the rest of the year.
"The rigors involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll," said Winehouse representative Tracey Miller in a statement today.
"I can't give it my all onstage without my Blake," Winehouse said in a statement provided by Miller. "I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows halfheartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him, it's just not the same."
All tickets will be refunded...
I don't know what else to say...except that I am not surprised.
Pete Doherty honestly amazes me. He has completed two Babyshambles albums since the Libertines all while being addicted to all srts of drugs, made a name for himself worldwide as a tabloid superstar with his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss and NOW already has recorded tracks for a solo album that is due out in 2008.
Wrking with Jake Foir, Pete has been writing and living in Wilshire with his cats and has been writing non stop. The tracks are a lot "slower and intimate" than his stuff with Babyshambles as well.
I love anything he does...let the countdown to Pete's solo record begin!
Since The Enemy were named the band to watch by NME in 2007, its been all uphill from there. The band's debut album "To Live and Die In These Towns" went straight to #1 in the UK and their new single "We'll Live and Die In These Towns" is released December 3 in the UK.
Here is the video for We'll Live and Die in These Towns:
The Bridal Shop could have the most lovely sound I have heard in a long time. Hailing from Sweden, the home to some of the best music hats come out in the past few years; The Bridal Shop combine the sounds of the early 80's with nice dreary electro a la DNTEL.
After hearing their track Bay The Moon, I fell in love immediately (which is on their MySpace).
Bloc Party are giving the U.S. some love and releasing their fantastic single "Flux" on iTunes for us fine folks to have access to. If you haven't purchased your import yet you are in luck because iTunes is offering an exclusive remix of the track

Wringing out another single from the kitchen rag that is Yours Truly, Angry Mob (okay, that metaphor was meant to be far more complimentary), we get another single from t'Chiefs. This time it is the not-so-lovelorn ballad, "Love's Not A Competition (But I'm Winning)": part tongue-firmly-in-cheek, part brutal honesty about the transfer of male-female power. It's just like boys to think they're winning, isn't it? Sex biases aside, this is a lovely little tune and the video sees the boys taking in the sites of my sister blogger's city, aka The City. Plus, you get to see Peanut in a little rickshaw. Adorable. Sorry, Penaut.
Kaiser Chiefs - "Love's Not A Competition (But I'm Winning)"

P.S. - Interview with the pipes of the chiefs (Ricky "swoon" Wilson) coming SOON
Shirley Manson is breaking free of Garbage for a bit and finally releasing her solo record possibly early next year. The songwriting credits go to the fabulous Manson and Greg Kurstin of The Bird and The Bee fame.
Shirley also worked with Beck, Jack White, Billy Corgan and Paul Buchanan (The Blue Nile) on the tracks. Who worked on what track is yet to be discoverd but here is the tracklisting in full:
1. "Don't Want Anyone Hurt" 2. "Don't Want to Pretend" 3. "Gone Upside" 4. "Hot Shit" 5. "Kid Ourselves" 6. "Lighten Up" 7. "Little Dough" 8. "No Regrets" 9. "Pissholes" 10. "Pure Genius" 11. "So Shines a Good Deed" 12. "Spooky" 13. "Stop" 14. "Sweet Old World" 15. "The Desert" 16. "To Be King"
I honestly can't wait...Shirley's been a huge part of the writing process for Garbage and her solo album should be absolutely brillliant.
Its been a long time since I last saw Spiritualized and it was well worth the wait. On Friday at the Apollo Theater, it was truly a magical experience to see the band stripped down with an orchestra and gospel singers.
Coming on stage with an acoustic guitar and a pair of sunglasses, Jason Pierce sounded and looked incredible. It was as if no one existed (especially the douchebag that kept saying "Jason take your sunnys off"...what an idiot) as Jason picked up his acoustic guitar and said "thank you" a total of 2 times during the night.
The crowd was a bit odd but respectful as they stayed seated throughout the entire show. I would have liked it to be a la PJ Harvey and been able to hear a pin drop...but you can't always get what you want
Here is the setlist:
Sitting On Fire Lord Let It Rain On Me True Love Will Find You Cool Waves Amen Going Down Slow Feel So Sad Soul On Fire Walking With Jesus Stop Your Crying All Of My Tears Baby I'm Just A Fool Anything More Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space Broken Heart I Think I'm In Love... Lord Can You Hear Me Oh Happy Day
Absolutely brilliant show...and a once in a lifetime experience.
No, she was not doing drugs on stage...but wiping your nose on stage? Come on! I have a feeling that she could have a cold for the reason that she did something BEFORE her set. Then again, who am I to judge.
Her long time tour manager also quit from traces of second hand smoke in his lungs...heroin smoke.
First shows in 16 years...wow. This is basically as good as the Verve reuniting and I have a feeling that MBV playing in the States before or after these UK shows will be very likely.
Can anyone say COACHELLA?!

Well, sort of... it looks like the man who "sneezes and hits come out" himself, Courtney Taylor Taylor, will be out playing a show at Cinespace tonight with fellow Dandy, Brent DeBoer. They're billed as The Dutch Masters. Check it:
Amy Winehouse is officially in the Britney club of "Celebrities who have lost it"...
Amy was due to show up today for a video shoot for her next single "Love Is A Losing Game" in London and she basically went on a massive bender and was a no show. At least people weren't expecting her tonight at the Woodie Awards...
Somebody lost a lot of money today and it wasn't Amy...
Who would have ever thought that a trainer wearing pop singer would STILL be a designer's dream to snatch up for ad campaigns. First is was the all the talk that Lily would be doing something with Chanel. Then it was her own line "Lily Loves" for New Look...next up is....
AGENT PROVOCATEUR!
"The owners of Agent Provocateur, Joe Corre and Serena Rees, are delighted. They feel her natural look will appeal to a lot of women. She's in amazing shape since she lost the weight, and the pictures of her are absolutely incredible", says someone close to the company.
I guess going to the hypnotist to lose weight actually did some good for Lily. Then again, I miss the old "I don't give a shit" Lily...what happened to her?
People have been telling me for ages to check out Adele and Im quite glad I did...she's brilliant!
Joining in on the London female singers club (Amy Winehouse, Kate Nash, Lily Allen...blah blah blah), Adele made a name for herself on MySpace when a friend of her's put up her tracks. Soon after the page was set up, industry heads were all over getting her signed and XL Recordings became her new home.
Adele has a voice to kill (a bit of soul, a bit of pop) and has the ability to write a song you can fall in love with on first listen. Her single "Hometown Glory" will be released October 22nd in the UK.
Here is Adele live on the BBC2 show "Sound" singing "Hometown Glory":
I know that there is going to be the big "why is this on this blog?" post BUT I sort of hold a special place in my heart of the Spice Girls. Therefore the two NY tour dates sort of excited me...to the point where I decided I will go to one if not both shows. Hey, the last Spice tour 10 years ago was without Geri so I have yet to see them as a five piece...

Plus, here is the new video for their single 'Headlines":
Last night in Glasgow, The Verve played their first gig since May 1998 with their original line up. I would have given my right arm to be in attendance but unfortunately I can only read reviews of the gig.
The set list was absolutely incredible with a set of old classics and even a new track included in the mix.
'This is Music' 'Sonnet' 'All In The Mind' 'Weeping Willow' 'Life's An Ocean' 'Space And Time' 'Sit And Wonder' (New Song) 'Velvet Morning' 'Already There' 'Let The Damage Begin' 'A Northern Soul' 'The Drugs Don't Work' 'The Rolling People' 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' 'Man Called Sun' 'Lucky Man' 'Come On'
Amy Winehouse was apparently off her rocker when she sang her hit "Back To Black" and sounded well, horrible. See for yourself...
Babyshambles did an incredible version of "Delivery" and it might be the case that Pete is clearly off the drugs (he gained some weight...woohoo!!!!!!!)

Suprise! Amy Winehouse has canceled her appearance at the mtvU Woodie Awards on November 8th. This time around its because of her signed confession to posession of marijuana in Norway. At least its not for personal reasons...
Wino just can't win. At least she was pretty much the #1 Halloween costume of 2007...
tips, new music, gentlemen callers, UK citizenship and witty reparte are greatly appreciated. and, you know, free stuff is cool, too.
