Lily Allen Is a Genius

Lily Allen hates all the right people! Ranting to Radio 1, when asked who she hates, Allen replied: "(I hate) Peaches Geldof because of who she is.

"I find it really offensive, like she did this like documentary about Islam and it was really awful. I watched it on (British TV show) Richard and Judy and it was like: 'Yeah I just really think that kids in this country don't really know enough about Islam and I think that they just really need to know a lot more about Islam'. What do you know about Islam, you useless oaf?"

This comes days after she threatened to punch Paris Hilton on her upcoming promotional tour of America.

She said: "Paris is hideously untalented. I poured my heart into my album. She just got someone else to do it for her. If she's rude to me I'll punch her."

What a fucking genius! The many reason to love Miss Lily This info comes from Ireland Online

Jet Takes Over NYC

Its been a long time since we've heard anything new from these Aussies BUT there is a reason for it...the new stuff is fantastic and the band sounds tight as fuck. The band took me by surprise last night playing Irving Plaza...I danced, I sang, I looked like a massive dork throughout the show I'm sure BUT WHO CARES it was awesome!

I don't have the setlist but what I can tell you is they opened with Come On Come On, ended with Rollover DJ and they played everything you wanted to hear in between. Nic sounded amazing and if you haven't gotten tickets to see them yet you are stupid.

Go get the new record "Shine On" here

Katyshambles in Ireland

The infamous coupling of Kate Moss and Pete Doherty are together again and dueting as well. Last night in Ireland, Pete played with his band Babyshambles in his first post rehab performance. Joining the band were special guests Kate Moss and Shane McGowan.

Here is Kate and pete singing together for La Belle Et La Bete:

and here is a photo.

You know...I sort of like them together...they both don't give a fuck and that is refreshing

The Killers Not So Secret Show

The Killers played a nice little show at Webster Hall that had everyone screaming and going mental on Friday. Now, I've always dug them but these kids were going insane for them...It was refreshing to see so much energy in one place.

The setlist was:
Sam's Town
When You Were Young
Somebody Told Me
Smile Like You Mean It
Bones
Bling
Read My Mind
Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine
Midnight
All These Things That I've Done

Encore:
My List
Uncle Johnny
Mr. Brightside

Although the new stuff seemed good...it didnt really compare to the old tunes. Although, When You Were Young grew on me so much so you never know...I could come back and say its my favorite album of the year. Regardless, it was a good show apart from the cheap Christmas lights as decor and Brandon Flowers trying to be the equivalent of a mariachi band leader.

Sam's Town comes out on October 3rd...my advice would be to pick up a copy and give it multiple listens...I think you'll dig it.

Liam Gallagher Gets Embarrassed

Guess whose embarrassed for once? Mr. Liam Gallagher because of his "Man-Bag". Nicole Appleton (his pop star girlfriend) was on BBC 1 when she told DJ Chris Moyles about how useful his bag was. Of course, in Gallagher fashion is response to Chris was "He said if you slag off his man-bag he'll put you in it.""He said if you slag off his man-bag he'll put you in it."

The Almost UnArctic Monkeys

The Arctic Monkeys almost didn't ever exist to the world of mainstream music before they found fame. Alex Turner said: “When we first started the band, we almost stopped doing it because we were getting so fed up.

“There was some drama and we were like, ‘We can’t be a*sed any more.’”

But when things started picking up for the Sheffield band, they quickly found a second wind and all their problems were forgotten.

Alex told New magazine: “It was like a drug. There’s nowt else I can f****ing do.”

Thank god they exist...I dig 'em

The Sugarcubes Reunite For One Time Only!

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the release of their single "Birthday", The Sugarcubes (featuring Bjork of course) will be playing a one off date in Reykjavik on November 17th. This is the first time in 14 years the band takes the stage together!

From Bjork.com: "Nearly 20 years ago The Sugarcubes put out on their own label Smekkleysa SM, their first single Birthday. This release was the start to the splendid career of The Sugarcubes, and impressive releases of Icelandic artists in Iceland and abroad alike. These first steps made by The Sugarcubes have made and everlasting impact and influence on the Icelandic export of music.

Its been a while since I last saw the Yorn it was on the "Day I Forgot" tour. Since then, he's improved and the set list has gotten better and better. It was a great crowd and it reminded me of the old days where he would play in small, sweaty clubs singing his heart out.

Special highlight of the night was CJ Ramone coming onstage for his cover of "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" at the home of the Ramones.

Set list:

Babyshambles Not In Shambles Anymore

Has Pete Doherty come to his senses? I am sure not 100% BUT Babyshambles have ditched their label, Rough Trade for the glitz and glamour of a major label. Signing to Regal/Parlophone, (the same label as Miss Lily Allen) the band claim they are not "unreliable sods" anymore.

The band was signed to release an EP through the label without even submitting a demo. Drummer Adam Ficek told NME.com: "We're just seeing if we like the label and vice-versa. But it's amazing really, we're made up about them signing us for the EP because they didn't even hear a demo. It's frightening when you consider we're such an unreliable bunch of sods. But we're not like that any more, so that's cool."

Seems like Pete's following in the footsteps of his old buddy Carl who ditched Rough Trade for Universal Records.

Best of luck to Babyshambles...and please make a new record for the people.

NME Turns 10

As much as people tell me this magazine is shit I still do have a special place in my heart for it. For the amount of years I've been reading it, NME has finally turned 10 and had a huge bash featuring Kasabian, CSS (Cansei de ser Sexy) and some band I don't know that they had some competition for. Noel Gallagher came on stage for "Club Foot" and "The Doberman"...woo fucking hoo. Even a Gallagher can't save that band from being a full blown suck fest.

Stop The Clocks!

The track listing for the upcoming Oasis Greatest Hits album coming out on November 20th was just revealed. Here it is:

Rock n Roll Star

Some Might Say

Talk Tonight

Lyla

The Importance of Being Idle

Wonderwall

Slide Away

Cigarettes and Alcohol

The Masterplan

Live Forever

Acquiesce

Supersonic

Half The World Away

Go Let It Out

Songbird

Morning Glory

Champagne Supernova

Don't Look Back In Anger

Now I could go into why this should be in there and how could they forget this one but there are two things to keep in mind. First, it was chosen by Oasis. Second, they don't give a fuck about my suggestions even though I probably know their songs better than they do (exaggeration!!!!!). Who gives a fuck, any new Oasis CD is great (new packaging and photos!)

Spit On This...

Lily Allen is one awesome woman who truly doesn't give a fuck. Exhibit A: Lily goes to the Hare And Hounds pub on the Isle of Wight, off the South coast of England and starts a beer spitting fight with her friends. She doesn't give a shit and gets kicked out.

A witness says, "They began acting like a bunch of kids, spitting and spraying their drinks at each other. "Booze was going everywhere - it was a real mess. They'd been asked a few times to cut it out but took no notice so, in the end, they were told to leave. "None of us realised it was Lily Allen - we just thought she was some kid playing up."

The Black Crowes Down Another Member

The Black Crowes are down another member as of today! Guitarist Marc Ford has quit the band shortly after keyboardist Eddie Harsch left a month ago citing "personal issues" as his reason. This is the second time Marc Ford has left the band...so he could be back.

Sort of sad but to be honest its not like Chris or Rich left...

Primal Scream Get Drugged?!

Now we all know Primal Scream are no strangers to the wonderful world or narcotics...but what happens when they arent aware they are taking them? The other night in a London bar, Robert Young and his girlfriend were drugged by thieves who then proceeded to snatch the girlfriend's purse. According to Contact Music, a pal of Young's says, "Bob is a big bloke and he felt really comatose. "He managed to get home but he has no recollection of what happened after he left the pub. "His girlfriend Rachel was not so lucky. She passed out."

Well, maybe you just need more practice...a possible knock on Pete Doherty's door could work?

To see the Primal Scream boys sober, here is the video for Some Velvet Morning featuring none other than Pete's fiancee

Monkey Music Prize

The Mercury Music Prize this year has gone to the most obvious choice, The Arctic Monkeys. Usually the prize has nothing to do with album sales...but this time I am sure the hype had a bit of an influence. Granted this album is still out of my favorite albums of the year so good for them.

The other nominees were:

Arctic Monkeys - 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'
Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan - 'Ballad Of The Broken Seas'
Editors - 'The Back Room'
Guillemots - 'Through The Windowpane'
Richard Hawley - 'Coles Corner'
Hot Chip - 'The Warning'
Muse - 'Black Holes & Revelations'
Zoe Rahman - 'Melting Pot'
Lou Rhodes - 'Beloved One'
Scritti Politti - 'White Bread Black Beer'
Sway - 'This Is My Demo'
Thom Yorke - 'The Eraser'

Alex Turner, singer of the Arctic Monkeys did add, "Somebody call 999, Richard Hawley's been robbed!"...funny man.
