MTV VMAs!

Tonight are MTV's Video Music Awards which are as usual, super hyped up and deliver at times. This year I'm looking forward to The Raconteurs performance and I cracked and decided I actually really like latest Killers song so maybe I'll listen to that. I say I'm not going to watch it...but every year I end up tuning in!

This website was set up by MTV especially for the VMA's

I'll be at the Blender party tonight hanging out with 50 Cent and LL Cool J...it should be amusing for all of 10 minutes and then I'll need to get wasted...

Panic! From The Bottle Part 2

Here is the actual footage!

Unfortunately I laughed out loud from this and I do sort of feel bad. Poor thing, it must have been really painful and its pretty awesome he played the rest of the set. Most people would have said fuck off and walked off stage.

Alright so I already bought mine but you can purchase your Lily Allen tickets for Hiro Ballroom HERE

$25 with shipping...not so bad. Mark Ronson and Domino will be opening!

Also, in Primal Scream news the band charted at #115 in the US Billboard Top 200...considering that people don't really care for the new record (and I think they are fucking idiots for it) thats quite good!

Carl and Pete Together Again!

Wel, not really BUT Nme has confirmed the two recorded a track together for the upcoming song for Strummerville, a charity set up in memory of Joe Strummer. Both Barat and Doherty contributed vocals to a cover of "Janie Jones" but recorded their parts at different times. There is no set release date on this BUT its still going to be very very nice to hear the both of them on a track together!

Get Yourself Into This...

I was listening to Product Shop NYC's show on Sirius last night and he had the Rapture as a guest. It made me realize how good the Rapture are...I sort of forgot about them for a bit. Anyway, they debuted 4 tracks from the upcoming album "Pieces of the People We Love" and they sounded fucking fantastic!

The first single is "Get Myself Into It" and the album is out September 12th. Check out the nice fake cameo in it as well...

Moms...keep your teenagers away from Pete Doherty

Pete Doherty gets in trouble YET AGAIN after he was caught giving cocaine to a teenager at The Priory.

Doherty was meant to be under curfew but wasn't being watched...and somehow sneaked out and went into the adolescent additon unit. There he was caught and the rest is history...

Ugh...I wish he would just get better.

Panic! From The Bottle

It looks like emo boys can hold their own judging by Panic! At The Disco's appearance at Reading Festival. Frontman Brendan Urie got hit in the face with a bottle seconds into the bands set, passed out for a couple of seconds and then continued playing. Urie says, "I'm doing alright now, I could be way worse, I could be dead," he joked. "What I remember is I got hit, got knocked out, woke up and finished the set! I was out for a couple of seconds, I guess. Then we played some music, it was good. I've got a bruise, but looks good. It makes me look rugged and tough."

It kind of would have been funny if he passed out but I'm glad he's OK...

From NME

"Shields is set to collaborate with Smith on a live recording of Smith's 'The Coral Sea' on September 12 at the South Bank Centre in London.

The gig will be divided up into two parts. The first half will be a combination of new songs, spoken word pieces and overdubs from Smith plus other musicians. She will preview songs from her forthcoming album of covers, plus a new political piece dedicated to children of the Lebanon.

Shields will act as musical director, in the second half, for a performance of 'The Coral Sea', Smith's tribute to photographer Robert Mapplethorpe."

Oasis is not only coming out with a greatest hits album BUT there will be a film to go along with it. The film is titled "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" and was shot by Baillie Walsh during the worldwide tour to support their last release, Don't Believe The Truth.

The band are also running a competition surrounding the release of the Greatest Hits and film to attend a screening of their choice, from a list of cities which will be confirmed shortly.

"To win, fans must predict exactly which 18 songs Oasis will select to appear on 'Stop The Clocks' and the record's running order, bearing in mind 'Acquiesce', 'Half The World Away', 'Supersonic', 'Wonderwall' and 'The Importance of Being Idle' are all confirmed." - From NME.com

The Beckhams Just Suck

Its not like Victoria and David Beckham don't have enough money as it is...but who has a competition to let one lucky winner bid on an entry into their pre World Cup party and treats the winner like shit? Not only did the staff talk to him like he was a piece of garbage, but they had a pre party phone call about how to act at the party and no celebrity mingling. $180,000 (£100,000) for nothing!

The guy is now suing the Beckham's for his money back and in addition asking them to contribute £100,000 to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

Maybe their new perfume "Intimately Beckham" can make that money to pay this guy off...

By the way, the cheese factor with these two keeps getting worse and worse. Don;t get me wrong, David Beckham is a fucking stunner...but he's also sort of a tool bag. Shape up Becks or you are on the road to full on suckage.

An Un-Ordinary Occurance

As everyone now knows, the Ordinary Boys pulled their slot on V festival from this weekend. You know, these kind of things happen...the problem is when the band give a little too much information about why they pulled the gig

From Preston's mouth:
"We've never cancelled a gig before and yesterday when we played James soldiered on with flu," he said. "But he's been shitting and vomiting all night and his skin is nearly translucent so we have to take him to hospital."

Now thats fantastic...we all need to know poor James is sitting on the crapper with his ass on one side and his head in a fucking bucket. Couldn't he just say he came down with an illness? Ugh.

We've now learned though that it could have been a fatal illness called "quinsy" which is a condition that causes an abscess in the throat (whatever that means!). Best of luck to James and hopefully he won't have the runs for future gigs.

Will Pete Ever Learn

Again the man gets busted for drugs even though I feel like he's done everything to get himself off of it! Well, here comes a new Pete...ready for a change. According to Contact Music "Troubled British rocker PETE DOHERTY is determined to ditch his drug-addled lifestyle, if only for the sake of his worried fans. The BABYSHAMBLES frontman's following has been begging him to clean up - and he is finally taking note. He says, "The resounding message when we hang out with kids after shows is, 'Sort yourselves out. We love your band and you're f**king up.' "They're right too. Fair play for telling us like it is too." Doherty pleaded guilty to drug possession charges yesterday (18AUG06), and has been ordered to stay at London rehab clinic The Priory until he is sentenced next month (SEP06)."

Good luck Pete...we are all routing for you. Maybe you just have to ditch Kate Moss and it will all come together?

Lily and Robbie collaborate! PLUS a new Lily US date

Miss Lily Allen (an obvious favorite here at What Became Of The Likely Broads) will be singing on 3 tracks on Robbie Williams' upcoming album. The collaboration was thrown together by Mark Ronson (who produced tracks on Lily's record as well as the new Robbie Williams release) when Robbie mentioned he needed a female singer on some of the tracks. Now, you can call me the biggest nerd in town but I LOVE Robbie Williams and have since his frist release "Life Through A Lens." I'm pretty fucking excited for the record as it is...but this made it 10 million times better.

Oh The Horror

What happens when the singer from the Horrors walks down Whitechapel Road in London at 3 AM? He gets beat up. Faris Badwan, lead singer of The Horrors told NME.com he's "never been so angry in his life."

"Recalling the incident, he said: "I was walking down Whitechapel Road, and this guy stopped said 'Are you a boy or a girl?' - then he said it again, and I told him where to go."

...and it all unfolded from there folks! The poor boy needed to go to the emergency room for a chipped tooth and a bloody nose which could or could not affect The Horrors upcoming recording schedule.

Hopefully, he recovers...and I guess The Horrors aren't so scary after all?

Drugs Bond Pete and Skinner

Everyone's favorite drug addict (he'll get better eventually...) and the king of British hip hop or whatever you want to classified it as have teamed up to do a song together. Mike Skinner and Pete Doherty has teamed up to do an updated version of "Prangin Out" from Skinner's latest release "The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living" with Pete doing a sort of rap/poetry piece speaking a section he wrote himself for the song. Coincidently the song is about COCAINE so it was the perfect combination. Lesson of the day: Drugs make everything better!

I can't wait to here this track...I have no doubt is going to be fucking awesome.

To check out Skinner's latest album you can purchase it here (and sample Prangin Out as well).

Kasabian Needs To Shut The Fuck Up

Ok so what is the deal with these boys? They are digging their own hole to make Americans really fucking hate them.

From Contact Music:

"LATEST: British rockers KASABIAN have apologised for falsely accusing THE ROLLING STONES of charging their supports bands to watch them after their slot. CUTT OFF stars Kasabian are supporting the BROWN SUGAR hitmakers on some of their upcoming European dates, and lead singer TOM MEIGHAN last week (ends06AUG06) insisted they would have to pay $280 (GBP150) each to watch the Stones' set. But the band have now issued a statement reading: "We're sorry for comments about ticket prices. "We now realise that we do not have to pay to see The Rolling Stones perform. We're incredibly honoured and excited to be supporting them on some dates. "It's a dream come true for us all."

Why would they even slag Americans off in the first place? Their Karloff replacement is a fucking American citizen. What giant toolbags...

Officially hate

I officially hate Mel Gibson...he's a cunt. Rant over

In other news, Jon Theodore has left The Mars Volta on the eve of their new release titled 'Amputechture'...how sad!

What is going on with people getting kicked out/leaving bands. Its been Panic! At The Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and NOW the Mars Volta. Are people's heads getting too fucking big? Making music is an art form and being in a band is all about getting along and creating something together. Why are people so lame that they can't do this these days?

Also, heard The Pipettes and Radio 1 last night (the joy of Sirius) and they were adorable. Definitely can't wait for them to tour Stateside!

In other NY news, A Place To Bury Strangers were fantastic at Cake Shop NYC last night! That place is a dream...records, booze and fucking cupcakes WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR!!!!!!
