PJ Harvey U.S. Tour Dates Announced

PJ Harvey is and always will be an artist that can do whatever she wants and I will still absolutely adore her. According to some good sources the new record "White Chalk" (out September 25 in the US) is horrifying BUT its PJ so we will see what my opinion actually is.

The joy of new records coming out are the shows that come along with it. Here are the upcoming PJ Harvey U.S. dates!:

10-10 New York, NY - Beacon Theatre
10-15 Los Angeles, CA - The Orpheum

and the two UK dates:

09-24 Bristol, England - Colston Hall
09-29 London, England - Royal Festival Hall

Tickets go on sale for the gigs in the States on September 7th through TicketMaster.

Amy Winehouse Ditches the MTV VMA's

September 9th was supposed to be a day that Amy Winehouse was going to be in Las Vegas and at least be nominated for one of the biggest music events of the year, the MTV VMA's.

We all know that Wino has been going through some crazy shit lately so very unsurprisingly it was announced that she would NOT be attending or performing at the Awards.

Right now, her husband and her are in the Caribbean for some much needed rest and relaxation...ad hopefully no more crazy shit.

Best of luck to Wino...hope she gets better.

tapedeck Makes The Best Mixtape EVER!

Anything tapedeck does, I love. Therefore, I love their mixtape (which is actually a TAPE!) that they just released.

You can download side 1 of the tape HERE or actually purchase the tape HERE

They have the best Klaxons remix ever for "Atlantis To Interzone". Oh, and the best Kate Nash remix ever for "Caroline's A Victim". Plus, every city has their own mixtape cover!

The Thrills Get A U.S. Release!

Capitol Music Group was feeling nice and decided to give a Stateside release to the latest record by The Thrills. "Teeanger" will be released October 23rd. Hopefully a tour will follow as they happen to be a great live band.

Hilly Kristal Dies at 75

Hilly Kristal, the founder of one of the greatest rock clubs to ever exist (CBGB's), has passed away at 75. Kristal died from lung cancer yesterday after battling with the disease for some time.

"I am very sorry that Hilly is gone. He was a big help to Blondie and to the New York music scene for many years. His club CBGB’s has become a part of New York lore and Rock n’ Roll history", states Debbie Harry. After the closing of CBGB's last year in New York, Kristal was going to recreate the club in Las Vegas.

Kate Nash - U.S. Album Release and New York Tour Dates

God bless Music Snobbery at the moment. Why? KATE NASH IS PLAYING NEW YORK and there will be an EP released by Geffen around the same time.

On September 4th the "Foundations EP" will be release on iTunes with the following tracks:

* Foundations

(no Mouthwash!!!!!!)

The New York dates are as follows:

* September 24, Luna Lounge

I'm not going to lie...I got a bit giddy when I found out she was playing here. Not only that but "Made of Bricks" is surely on my Top 10 records of the year.

Also, if you haven't heard Tapedeck's brilliant remix of Caroline's A Victim then go to their MySpace page. Its also on the mixtape they just released!

Likely Looks: Common feat. Lily Allen - Drivin' Me Wild

Lily looks adorable in her little green promesque dress.

Coachella 2008 - My Bloody Valentine Reunion??

Is the moment we've all been waiting for for years finally going to happen? First, its Jesus and Mary Chain and now...MY BLOODY VALENTINE! The group is tipped to be reuniting for 2008's Coachella in California.

The band is also possibly panning a 2008 world tour. As much as its super cliche to reunite these days...I still sort of love it.

Maybe just maybe one day we will see a Smiths reunion too...nah.

Carling Weekend - Reading and Leeds Day 1

I've never been to Reading or Leeds but I must make sure that I head over there soon. So far the action is as follows:

Paramore might be missing their set
The Gossip almost missed their set but made it
Beth Ditto gave the audience a little more then they wanted to see when she showed off her hot black underwear
Interpol fucking killed it
Everyone flocked to see Albert Hammond Jr
Kate Nash watched Gallows
CSS threw milk at the crowd
Razorlight played the most stellar fucking set ever and Johnny Borrell told the crowd "you're all legends"

Since I'm not there you should check NME.com for the latest happenings and photos.

For now, here is the Razorlight set list:

'In The Morning'
'Hold On'
'Golden Touch'
'Back To The Start'
'(Don't Go Back To) Dalston'
'Fall To Pieces'
'Pop Song 2006'
Can't stop This Feeling I've Got'
'Los Angeles Waltz'
'Leave Me Alone'
'Rock N Roll Lies'
'V.I.C.E.'
'America'
'Rip It Up'
'Who Needs Love'
'In The City'
'Fall, Fall, Fall'
'Funeral Blues'
'Stumble And Fall'
'Somewhere Else'

Shit...Rip It Up? Rock N Roll Lies? They pulled out some oldies for this gig...

Likely Listens: We Start Fires

Ever since Kenickie broke up years ago, there has always been a great mainly girl punk pop band that has been missing from my ipod. Enter We Start Fires from Darlington, UK to fill this void. After hearing their latest single "Play You", I automatically loved it and have been a fan ever since.

Basically, you must listen.

Here is the video for "Play You":

To listen to additional tracks check out their MySpace page as well.

yourcodenameis:milo Break Up

On August 21st, it was announced that yourcodenameis:milo is on "indefinite hiatus". Their MySpace page says the following:

"YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO R.I.P

To All..

After 5 years and 4 wicked cool records, we have decided to put yourcodenameis:milo on an indefinate hiatus.

We are all exceptionally proud of all we have achieved as a band, but feel it is time to move on and explore new paths both musical and non musical.

We are eternally grateful to everyone who supported us through it all, came to the shows, bought the records...plus all the bands we played with and the people we met along the way.
We hope it meant as much to you as it did to us.

cheers for being there.

Justin, Paul, Adam, Ross, Shaun."

A great band that will surely be missed...

Amy Winehouse Postpones U.S. Tour Dates

Amy Winehouse has just announced that she is postponing her U.S. tour with Paolo Nutini.

Here is the official statement:

Due to the rigours involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September US and Canadian tour dates. All ticket holders may obtain refunds at their point of purchase. Amy's European and UK tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her US tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health.

Sometimes everyone just needs a little break...

Likely Looks: Foals - Mathletics

By now, you should all know how I feel about Foals. If you don't then I love them to pieces and they are one of my favorite bands of 2007.

I've always said they are the next Bloc Party (not that they sound like it but they are that good that they can turn INTO it)

Here is the new video for their song "Mathletics":

As for a US release, this is going to sound really weird BUT they were on my plane to London the other week (their name was on their gear, OK!??)so hopefully they are in talks!

Enjoy xx

The Jesus and Mary Chain New Album and Tour!

I didn't want to be the one to report this to you but I couldn't wait any longer...

The Jesus and Mary Chain are back to do some more West Coast dates and have announced that they have confirmed a new studio album with a release date TBD.

The last time around they definitely lacked enthusiasm but it was one of those things where you sort of didn't care. 2007 has been the year of reunions and this one was the ultimate for me (and my LA partner in crime...)

Now the band are back for the following dates:

10/20 - Las Vegas, NV @ House of Blues
10/22 - Anaheim, CA @ House of Blues
10/23 - Los Angeles, CA @ Wiltern Theatre #
10/26 - San Francisco, CA @ the Fillmore #
10/27 - San Francisco, CA @ The Fillmore #
All dates with Evan Dando (solo acoustic)
# - Soulsavers (featuring Mark Lanegan)

I want to go!

Lily Allen Sets The Record Straight

Raise a glass for Amy
George Bush is a cunt

Basically thats what Lily's latest blog entry says.

Here it is:

v festival was great, thanks to everybody who came ,

i just want all my fans to know this ,
I have called george bush a c**t at pretty much every show i have played over the past year , that is because I think he is one and i stand by that . You can make up your own mind as to whether you agree with me or not , thats just how i feel . Just because i hate george bush doesnt mean I hate america , quite the opposite , I think the US is a great place and I am really sad that I cant be there for my commitments scheduled for the near future . what i said about George Bush this weekend bears no relation to what happened a couple of weeks ago with my visa , that is an issue with the US immigration service . I just wanted to let you all know that my " foul mouthed tirade " so widely reported over the past couple of days is actually pretty rehearsed and ive beeen saying it long before all this visa issue .
also me raising a drink to Amy , was just that , showing my support for her . I've been around enough substance abuse and alcoholism to know that it's a serious matter , and not to be taken lightly .
im sorry, i wanted to write this because i felt like if i didn't say anything you all might believe the rubbish your being fed .

Lily

Gotta love Lils!

The Wombats Play Debut New York Show

Liverpool favorites The Wombats are one of the most hyped UK imports as of lately. Finally coming over and playing New York is always a test to see if people are actualy going to care...or not.

Getting on stage around 20 minutes late and breaking out into accapella (drummer included!) for "Girls, Boys and Marsupials", the crowd sort of stood there not really knowing what to expect for the rest of the gig. Continuing on with loads of interaction/talking (although the crowd didn't really understand their Northern accents) and breaking out their catchy tracks left and right, finally the crowd got into it and started to warm up a bit.

Playing their next single "Let's Dance To Joy Division", "Kill The Director" and ending with "Backfire At The Disco"; The Womats played a great set that was full of energy and made it worth it to drag yourself out to the Annex on a Wednesday night.

Who knows when they are coming back but they are definitely playing venues bigger then the Annex next time around.

The Rapture + New York Red Bulls = A New W.A.Y.U.H.

Music, fashion, film...and even SPORTS all sort of come together at one point in time. This time around the MLS (Major League Soccer) decided to pair up local favorites from every city and pair them up with their local teams.

Being from New York, I of course love the fact that they used The Rapture and had them re-record a version of W.A.Y.U.H complete with the hook as "Go New York" and Luke at the end going Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!

Other participants are OK Go (Chicago), Meg and Dia (Salt Lake City), RJD2 (Columbus) and many others.

Likely Looks: Babyshambles - Delivery

Oh how I love Babyshambles...even though Pete Doherty gets arrested more times a day than I can count on one hand and they are constantly arriving at their gigs late (*cough* 4 hours late to V Festival *cough*).

At the end of the day, who cares? All I care about is the new video for "Delivery", the first single from the upcoming album "Shotters Nation".

Likley Listens: Bang Lime

Silly band name aside, I already know you'll like these guys. It's another Metric side-project! This time it's the revenge of the rhythm section as bassist Josh Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key band (ooh, an unintentional pun!) together.

If you're a fan of the anthems on Old World Underground... you'll be into this from the get go. Their lead single "Death of Death" couldn't be farther away from the connotation of its title. The song begins with a classic, spiraling guitar riff that sounds like a slightly more mature version of a Be Your Own Pet song. Not surprisingly, the drums and lagging bass hooks are the meat of the song.

"It's all right in the dark of night..."

Quite the rock 'n' roll turn of phrase. Check it out for yourself:

Bang Lime - "Death of Death"

The duo are finishing up a North American tour right now. You can check out the rest of their dates on their MySpace page.

Likely Listens: The Wombats

Straight out of Liverpool come The Wombats with their insanely catchy tracks that sort of make you want to jump out of your seat and dance no matter where you are.

I promise in around 15 minutes you'll be screaming the lyrics to "Kill The Director" and loving it.

Catch The Wombats tonight at the Annex at 10PM NYC kids!

Amy Winehouse Finally Goes To Rehab (And Doesn't Say No No No)

Sorry...the title of this post was just WAY too easy (and done before I am sure but oh well). Amy Winehouse is truly a hot mess these days and finally getting help for all her addictions. She's been canceling shows left and right and is turning into the female Pete Doherty. God bless REHAB!

Off to the US are Winehouse and her husband of a few months, Blake Fielder-Civil to get help. After a blow out with her family and being rushed to the hospital for taking every drug and drink under the sun, enough was enough.

Amy will still apparently be playing V Festival in the UK...

Amy Winehouse Pulls Out Of Her Rolling Stones Opening Slot

Amy Winehouse is not only one of the most talented singers around today...but she's also one of the most fucked up. Notorious for drinking ALL the time and lately for her use of the white stuff, Amy apparently ODed last week which sent her into hiding at a posh hotel.

Fast forward to today and Winehouse has announced she is pulling out of two opening slots she had on the Rolling Stones tour. My guess is Mick Jagger isn't too thrilled about this one.

Hopefully Amy gets back on track because she's slowly turning into Pete Doherty...it will become a miracle if she actually shows up at her live gigs at the rate she's going

He was an absolute legend and will be missed.

Lily Allen is not only a singer, blogger extraordinare, champion fighter (she's got great skills when it comes to assaulting photographers) but NOW soon to be TV star.

Next year, Lily will be getting her own TV show on the BBC. After her much talked about appearance on "The Friday Night Project" some crafty creator decided Lily would be perfect for her own show.

Lily's new album will be completed sometime around May 2008.

Pete Doherty: The Musical

It seems like Kate Moss and Pete Doherty got creative when they were together beyond what we caught from the YouTube clips posted under KP Nuts. According to reports, both kate and Pete put their musical minds together and were in the early stages of creating a musical together. Yes, a MUSICAL!

“The story was centered around a love tale of two star-crossed lovers as they struggle through life" says a source from The Sun. Now, I don't know about you but as much as I love me some Pete Doherty I don't think a musical penned by him and Moss would be anything to talk about.

Likely Listens: The Creepy Morons

With a band name like The Creepy Morons you can't help but wonder what the hell they sound like. Two words: fucking awesome!

There are only two songs on their MySpace page but be sure to listen to them. They are your answer to The Horrors...but they are actually good.

Likely Looks: M.I.A. - Jimmy

M.I.A. has finally returned in full force. First it was the single for "Boyz" and now the disco influenced "Jimmy". I don't know how much I love it...but it COULD grow on me so I will continue to give it a chance.

See for yourself...

Lily Allen Banned From The U.S.

Lily Allen has finally outstayed her welcome in the U.S. After being stopped at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, Lily was apparently strip searched and locked in a jail cell. Allen was detained due to her alleged bust up with a photographer in March.

Don't fear Lily fans as she will do her best to come back! "I want my fans to know that I will do everything I can to be back in America in September. I don't like letting my fans down and this is a situation that I am sure we can sort", says Allen.
