Lily Allen Really Thinks Paris Hilton Sucks

Lily Allen really hates Paris Hilton...just another reason to love Lily and celebrate about Paris' piece of shit music career dying.

Lily said recently: “Five years ago Paris Hilton’s album would have done really well [in the UK], because we didn’t have things like the internet; we didn’t have bands like myself or the Arctic Monkeys.”

“Now people can see [Paris] for what she is, and think, ‘Go away! What makes you think you have a life?’”

“Paris Hilton’s album did really badly over here and I just think it’s so boring and pathetic and it shouldn’t happen. It’s the f**king record companies that sign things like that, and you think, ‘What are you doing? Why are you ruining your own job?’

“It’s just laziness. People cheesy enough to buy albums like that should be killed.”

Three cheers for LILY!

Lily Allen's Dog Is Stolen

While taking a vacation in Jamaica Lily's dog Maggie May was stolen in a friend's van and has not returned. On Lily's MySpace page she posted the following:

I am beside myself with worry because someone has stolen my dog Maggie May this morning.
I am in Jamacia, while i am here Maggie has been looked after by a friend she was stolen out of his van. outside his house, Capel road, Forest gate, London. E7
and no one has seen her since.
Not only am i devastated that my dog has been taken away, but i am also concerned for her wellbeing. She needs an operation on her stomach and is having medical treatment.
there is a reward.
please anyone help.
no one will be angry - me and my family just want Maggie home.

Help Lily...come on! Besides, what would anyone want with a dog?!

Green Day Steals From Oasis?

Noel Gallagher...as much as I adore him he just keeps on finding new people to pick on! His lastest victims...GREEN DAY. According to Noel, Wonderwall sounds a little *too* much like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

Noel states, "If you listen, you'll find it is exactly the same arrangement as Wonderwall. They should have the decency to wait until I am dead (before stealing my songs). I, at least, pay the people I steal from that courtesy. They consider themselves to be - and I quote - 'a kick-ass rock 'n' roll band'. They could not be less kick-ass if they tried."

Well, listen for yourself. To be honest, I don't really hear it all that much.

Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam at Jazz at Lincoln Center

Last night I was lucky enough to catch Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam at Jazz at Lincoln Center for what proved to be one of the most incredible performances I had ever seen. Chatting for a bit with Nic Harcourt from KCRW and then performing a set of old favorites and new gems was just mind blowing.

I don't remember the whole set but I do know that the old tracks like "The Wind" and "Peace Train" sounded exactly the way I wanted them to live. I couldn't imagine that he had ever retired from playing live for almost two decades.

Coming out for an unexpected encore and playing "Father and Son" I actually fucking cried. I couldn't deal with how emotional the whole night was, the performance and the fact that Cat Stevens Yusuf whatever has been blessed with an ability to really tell a story through music and reach a part of a person that most artists can't even fathom.

If you have never listened to Cat Stevens I would highly recommend my two favorite albums, Tea For The Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat but hearing new songs off of An Other Cup got me equally as excited to really sit down and fall in love with it.

I can't expess how wonderful this performance was. To hear it in full go HERE

And We Thought Pete Doherty Had The Best Drug Connections?!

Apparently NOT! The only thing Pete misses about his old band, The Libertines is his ex-band mate Carl Barat and his drugs contacts. Restarting the old feud with Carl, Pete states, "Do I miss him? He used to get me good crack. That'll do, 'innit? He's still really pisted off. But I know he's not like that. He's someone who likes drinking. That's the hypocrisy of it."

On his views about his old band and drugs he says, "I paid the price. I got kicked out of the band. And with nothing, no sweat from anyone, we got it together with Babyshambles. We really got it. All he's got is the fact that he was in the best band and now he's in the worst band. And he needs to sort that out."

Well...let round 1657 begin! FYI Pete...Dirty Pretty Things are pretty fucking awesome and at least were sober enough to tour and show up to their gigs.

The Verve Makes Sad Songs (Tell Us Something We Didn't Know)

According to British research, The Verve's "The Drugs Don't Work" is the saddest song to listen to. Surprised? I'm not. Topping the sad songs list is also Robbie Williams' "Angels", Sir Elton John's "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" and Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U".

Dr. Harry Witchel from the University of Bristol Medical School monitored volunteers' heart rates to see which tracks made people feel happy, sad or exhilarated.

In the happy department, Lily Allen's "LDN" is #1 making it the happiest song of the bunch. It beat out Beyonce Knowles' Crazy In Love, Britney Spears' Hit Me Baby... One More Time and Kylie Minogue's Spinning Around.

Blur's anthem Song 2 exhilarates listeners, as well as The Rolling Stones' Start Me Up and U2's Beautiful Day.

Now we know how to get people in a certain mood...thanks Dr. Harry

Noel Gallagher Lets The Cat Out Of The Bag...

Oasis had their glory years in the 1990's (and they will always have their glory years to me) but this week Noel exposed a dark secret about the band that isn't all that shocking; the band was all fucked on crystal meth. On Noel's breif departure from the band he states, "The reason why I left is because crystal meth is like cheap speed, and I was into far more exotic drugs at that point. "I was quite upset my band members had become punks when I was busy reaching for the stars."

Oasis...always surprising the public. As long as they don't die let's keep it that way.

Begin The Lily Allen Blacklash

British pop stars Girls Aloud want in on the slagging game and have gone on to their next victim...Lily Allen. Kimberley from Girls Aloud told MTV UK: "Her first single was really good. It seemed she was really different - a female, but I don't know anymore. I don't really like her as a person." Then Nicola let rip saying: "Lily was saying she liked me because I was moody and not that pretty...I really appreciated her when she first came out - she was a breath of fresh air...But now I think f*** her."

Its feud time! Shame that people can actually ADMIT to loving Lily and most people who liked credible music have trouble admitting they even find one Girls Aloud song catchy and dig it (shit...I'm caught...).

Can't wait for the Lily rebuttle!

Karen O Has A Good Sense Of Humour

"Shit happens..." says Karen O of the leaked demos. Disccusing the leak on her message board she said the following: "(I) can't say I don't feel a little grossed out by someone taking a liberty with music that was mine and Dave's. Shit happens nonetheless.

"All I can do at this point is offer up a recommendation... if you happen to get your mits on one of those old demos floating around MY personal favorites and the ONLY ONES I would have released for anyone to enjoy is 'Pumpkin' and 'Snakes and Worms'. The rest I probably would have pitched or buried for while longer. No use bitching about something that's out of my control.

Tahita Bulmer From New Young Pony Cub Is My New Hero

Playing their first ever gig in New York on Saturday, New Young Pony Club apparently tore down the house and rocked Brooklyn hard. Playing to guests like Nick Zinner and James Iha, the band played a nice 30 minute set for the Brooklyn hipsters at The White Room for the Modular Xmas Party

The setlist is as follows:
'Get Lucky'
'The Bomb'
'Hiding On The Stair Case'
'Ice Cream'
'Chaos'
'Get-Go'

Now, why she's my hero you ask? Check out this quote from Tahita about the show: "It went relatively well considering I had a sore throat," she explained. "There were clearly plenty of people who were digging it -especially at the front - but there were also a lot of hipsters who might as well have been looking at pictures of elephant dung. It would have been nicer if some of those people had responded."

Fucking genius...

Thanks to NME.com for the info and the quote. I couldn't be there because I had a big Xmas party to go to...but from what I heard it was packed and awesome.

Eagles Of Death Metal vs Axl Rose

Axl Rose has once again proved he's out of his mind. First he get into a fight with Tommy Hilfiger and then he calls the Eagles of Death Metal "The Pigeons of Shit Metal" on stage after they played a set opening up for Guns N Roses in Cleveland. Jesse Hughes sets the record straight saying, ""Axl Rose is fucking out of his mind," raged Hughes. "He wasn't even there when we played. He got there about 30 minutes after we got done playing. He waltzed on to the stage and went nuts."

Surprise surprise...

And after Axl's apology Hughes still stood his ground stating, "When my manager told me that, I just said, 'You can tell that motherfucker to go and fuck himself because I will never go through that again'."

Kudos to the Eagles of Death Metal saying fuck off to Axl and not contunuing the tour even after he apologized.

Lily Allen Takes on the NME

Girl don't give a fuck...

Straight from her MySpace blog:

Wrong end of the Glowstick . NME rant
Current mood: aggravated

I probably shouldn't be writing this , but I have to get it off my chest . I am not a big fan of the NME , as they sold me down the river when I last talked to them , I did and interview and made a sarcastic joke using the word "gak" which is slang for cocaine . They glorified my joke and used it out of context , then their public relations dept , contacted the tabloids in a shameful attempt to sell more copies . And , I have ever since been known as " Lily Allen , Pint sized potty mouth popstar who once admitted she would celebrate her no 1 single by taking cocaine ! " .
Thanks NME . Now , I have read many articles in the NME , where male band members freely admit to, or associate themselves with the taking of drugs , and I havent seen many of them ending up in the tabloids . Take Klaxons for example, and the ongoing MDMA references. " MDMAZING " I believe was the title of a recent article ( how responsible! ) .
The only reason I can think of , for recieving such a different form of treatment , is because I am a woman . I did recieve a written apology from Conor Mcnicholas ( the editor) . But i vowed never to work with the NME agian . As I thought, if there was one publication I could trust and be frank with , it would be the theirs .

Anyway , I was aproached by them again , with regards to the "Cool List Issue 2006" , five women had made it into the top 10 and , subsequently we (the women) were asked to pose for photos to be the main feature for the cover . As I said before , I vowed not to work with them again , but as the context was so important ie; a a strong female presence in music . I thought i might aswell put aside my differences and do it . Now i don't care for " the cool list " , and I said this to them in the interview , which is probably why they didn't print it . I don't really think the NME are in any position to tell us who is cool and who isn't , personally I don't think a bunch of people sitting in an office drinking tea , inventing musical genres , and watching Nathan Barley DVD's are leading any kind of cool brigade , do you ?
But i did find it interesting that they wanted to put five women on the cover , and wanted to name 2006 , our year .

I went to get a copy yesterday , and this is what we ( the women ) got . Another fuckin MUSE cover . I like Muse , infact , Black Holes and Revelations , is one of my favourite albums of this year . But the NME have covered them so much this year already

Now usually you might expect a call , just out of courtousy telling us we had been pulled off the cover , but we recieved nothing .

This is Conors ( the editors) comments on this issue , He has obviusly put out some press release , stating how supportive the NME is to women in music

Conor McNicholas, the editor of NME, said he was pleased that the Cool List was full of women who had brought "new energy" to the music world.

"This year's Cool List is a testament to the raft of hugely talented women who have taken hold of the music scene in 2006," he said. "From Beth to Lily to Karen, they've brought new energy to a scene dominated by men. They're also living proof that you can still rock a crowd when you're wearing stilettos."

I mean how fucking patronising " you can still rock a crowd wearing stilletos "
Is that all we are , stilleto wearing people , is that all he could say ,that we brought a " new energy" to the music scene . Don't make me sick , wev'e always been here you arrogant prick , this was your chance to actually show you meant it . And instead you put Muse on the cover . Cause you thought that your readers might not buy a magazine with an overweight lesbian and a not particularly attractive looking me , on the front . Wankers .

You should take your heads out of you New Rave arses , and actually think about your responsibilities to youth culture , and to women in general .

Oh and by the way , theres not enough RAVE in New Rave .

Nice one Lily...you truly dont give a fuck and you take on the biggest music publication in the UK. They can't ignore you...and tey can't ignore this.

Viva Lily!

One question...who drops the fucking Futureheads?! They've put out one of the most worthy Kate Bush covers ever (Hounds of Love)! Even so, the band is excited to be dropped from 679 Records after 2 albums.

Frontman Barry Hyde told BBC6 "I'm over the moon about it to be honest with you, 'cos I feel like we're free now. We weren't happy as a band on that label."

Hopefully this doesn't jeoparize their contract in the States...that would suck

Factory Girl December 29th!

Finally a movie trailer for Factory Girl...the movie that made Tom Cruise officially look like a freak (he apparently told Katie Holmes not to take the role because it would be bad for her image) and officially made Sienna Miller a certified star.

Fun facts about Factoriy Girl:

Lou Reed's thoughts on the film... "I read that script. It's one of the most disgusting, foul things I've seen - by any illiterate retard - in a long time. There's no limit to how low some people will go to write something to make money", as well as "They're all a bunch of whores."

...Can we just mention that this comes from the man that had a shitting on people fetish (and ho knows if he still does)?

Brian Bell and Pat Wilson from Weezer play Lou Reed and John Cale...and they also do a cover of "Heroin" for the soundtrack.

Its Mary-Kate Olsen's first role ever without her sister.

For fucks sakes skip the facts, here's the trailer:

NICE BOWIE TOUCH might I add! Also, if you want to play catch up before the movie gets released on December 29th read Please Kill Me and it has a bit of Edie and Warhol background info

Shirley Manson Solo Record and Garbage Greatest Hits

How did I let this slip...sorry guys. Shirley Manson will be releasing a solo record and working with none other than Jack White and Billy Corgan. I guess Billy is returning the favor of fucking up their whole tour together in 1996. Now I must say that this could be my most anticipated album of 2007 considering Garbage is an all time favorite of mine. Garbage said they would never tour again...

Also, there will be a Garbage greatest hits album titled "Absolute Garbage"
...but could this mean another tour?????

Absolute Garbage tracklisting, according to NME:

"Vow"
"Queer"
"Only Happy When It Rains"

The Almighty Kanye West Apologizes

After his stupid outburst and the MTV European Music Awards he aplogized and said the following to MTV: "It was just out of raw emotion. I had a couple of drinks but I was more drunk with adrenaline. I was drinking at the awards show because I feel so at home at awards shows.

"On one hand, I felt like I should have won. But if anybody watches the show, I was laughing. People don't understand my dry sense of humour. I went up there and said, 'Hell nah, I should have won'."

Kanye, that is not a dry sense of humour...that is just dumb. You can't win everything and having Pamela Anderson in your video means nothing these days...its not like she's NEVER been in a music video before.

Placebo Live At Nokia Theater

First of all, let's start with the Nokia Theater sucks. Its not loud enough and its just weird. Now to the actual show...I missed She Wants a Refund for a reason, I didn't want to hang myself with my own t shirt before Placebo went on.

Placebo were good but not great. Brian now looks like a football hooligan with a shaved head and shirt and tie. I like the androgynous Brian WAY more. Plus, they had 3 extra guys on stage playing guitar, keyboard, backing vocal BLAH BLAH. It was better when they did it themselves.

They played a ton of new stuff...which was good but I would have liked to have heard some of the more classic tunes. Opening with Infra Red and going straight into Meds was awesome and got the crowd buzzing a bit. Throughout the night they did two encores even though the crowd was a bit boring except for the few cool ones in the front row going mental. The highlights were Special K where Brian encouraged the crowd to sing along to the ba ba ba ba ba ba dah dah part, Every Me Every You and Taste In Men.

The weird thing is they are a BETTER live band now but I'll take the Without You I'm Nothing tour over this one. Still, the band are fucking brilliant...

The Horrors Are Well...HORRIBLE

I have to hand it to ProductShop NYC for a fantastic show last night at Studio B. The Thermals were amazing and people were going absolutely nuts for them! It was refreshing to see a crowd that excited...and unfortunately it didn't stay that way. The fucking Horrors took an hour to go on because they thought they were the Rolling Stones. The unfortunate part is that NO ONE CARES ABOUT THEM anhd over half the crowd left before the band even got on. When they got on it was just loud noise and stupid cliche image shit. I thought I was going to enjoy them but I was quite wrong.

One highlight though is the single "Sheena Is A Parasite" and the video is amazing but not enough to impress me. I thought it was shit and I think a lot of people agree with me.

Question of the day...How the FUCK did this band make the cover of NME? Is the magazine that desperate?

If you haven't seen the video for "Sheena Is A Parasite" then here it is:

The Good, The Band and The Queen Play First Gig

Lucky for the people in Devon and the Pig's Nose! Last night they got the lucky chance of seeing The Good, The Bad and The Queen at their first gig ever warming up before BBC's Electric Proms.

The band is basically the most insane line up since who knows BUT its Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon (The Clash), Simon Tong (The Verve) and Tny Allen. So what they did was say "Hey let's put together al of my favorite bands and make a super group". Amazing!

The band played:

'History Song'
'80s Life'
'Northern Whale'
'Kingdom Of Doom'
'Herculean'
'Behind The Sun'
'The Bunting Song'
'Nature Springs
'Soldier's Tale'
'Three Changes'
'Green Fields'
'The Good, The Bad & The Queen'

If you haven't heard them yet..well I've just chaged that.
The Good, The Bad and The Queen - Herculean

Thanks to Girlpants for the MP3

For the first interview with the band I would suggest you pay the import price and buy NME or you can be a nerd like me and buy a subscription.

Jamie T Ditches His Track With Lily Allen

Mr. Jamie T has ditched out on a collaboration with Lily Allen because he was unhappy with the production.

According to Gigwise, he said: "I asked Lily to sing on the track and she sounded fantastic - her voice is so pure. But the drum beat is so awful so I've chosen not to use it on the album.

"We had about three of four working titles for the track but I don't think it will ever see the light of day now, so it doesn't matter."

When asked if he would work with Lily Allen again Jamie reportedly remarked, "Maybe. Although not for this album."

New York Dolls To What...???

I might be a little late in the game, but I am currently re-reading Please Kill Me and realized the following...how did David Johansen of the New York Dolls go from this:

to this:

I can't believe that the singer of the New York Dolls also sang the song that everyone danced/limboed to at bat/bar mitzvahs when I was a kid. Its also sort of amazing that he didn't lose his cred but maybe there is a deeper story to this that I don't know?

Weird

Yoko's Still At It

I know everyone rips on Yoko Ono about her breaking up the Beatles and blah blah BUT I think she pushes things a little too far. Yoko is suing EMI for $10 million claiming John Lennon was cheated out of royalties.

Yoko...come on...I know labels suck sometimes and they do fuck musicians over but leave shit alone.

Shake Your Rudebox

Ok...now you can all make fun of me but I sort of don't give a shit. I love Robbie Williams a little too much. Fell in love with his first album, Life Thru A Lens and then saw his first ever US show. Years later I still make sure I buy all his imported albums and have this insanely guilty pleasure for everything he puts out.

This time around, Robbie releases Rudebox on October 23rd in the UK. Of course, no US release so I pre ordered it on ARTISTDirect and when it arrives the rest is history.

For now, watch the new video Lovelight!

Fun fact, Lily Allen did backing vocals on a couple of tracks. When I get the liner notes I'll fill you in on what they are!

The Shits Hit The Disco

How much does this suck? Darren Cullen, drummer of ShitDisco broke his wrist and cannot play any dates opn the Club NME tour coming up for the band. Cullen was dancing on the top of his tour van when he fell off and broke the important body part needed for drumming (well ONE of them!).

From NME.com

He explained: "The house engineer broke his fall slightly but he still suffered a broken wrist. He went to hospital and had metal plate put in after surgery.

"He will be unable to drum for the rest of the tour but Darren is in good spirits and he can't wait to get back."

Session drummer Mark Heaney has been drafted in to replace the Shitdisco sticksman for the remainder of the tour, which continues in Northampton Soundhaus tonight (October 11).

Lily Allen - Caught on Tape!

Here's some Lily footage from Hiro last night(more coming!):

NY Broad x

Lily Allen at Hiro!

Here's the scoop on Lily last night...which was absolutely fantastic. Being pretty much the most important show of her life, Lily breezed through an 8 song set that left people wanting more (a lot more to be honest!).

The setlist was as follows:

"LDN"
"Nan, You're a Window Shopper"
"Shame For You"
"Knock Em Out"
"Littlest Things"
"Friday Night"
"Smile"
"Alfie"

Lily was quite nervous and it was visible to everyone in the crowd. It make her though, more likeable and the vibe easy going and fun. Alex Kapranos, some guy from Maroon 5 and a ton of Brits made up the crowd as well as a bunch of suits and dorks like me who sang along and danced to the whole set. I can't wait for a proper tour and for everyone that doesn't own Alright, Still yet...you are mental.

Video coming soon! Also, check out this shot of Lily from last night coutesy of Mediaeater

Justin Hawkins Leaves The Darkness

Now this one is a killer...Justin Hawkins leaves The Darkness for drug addiction and says the band is still going to go on? Come on...not going to work.

Hawkins tell The Sun, "I feel bad for the others (in the band), It will be an upheaval. But it's time for me to move on. It would be damaging to my recovery to stay on. I'm not blaming the band for my problem - I am an addict. There are people who can be in bands and stay clean, but I'm not one of them."

At his worst, he was spending £1,000 on blow a week! I mean I know being in a band is rough and going on tour can be boring but thats a lot of drugs...hopefuly he saves some cash and gets sober.

Oh No! Oh My! In LA Tonight!

Okay, say what you will about punctuation. That it's so %&$#! unescessary, BUT I have to let everyone know of my love for yet another educated band: Oh No! Oh My!. Oh yes!

Meet Greg Barkley, Joel Calvin and Daniel Hoxmeier. The songwriting nucleus of ON! OM!

These kids were picked up by the blogger train almost a year ago, specifically by I Guess I'm Floating and a few others. They're originally from Austin, TX and reloacted to Nashville so Greg (vox/guitar) and Daniel (guitar) could go to engineering/recording school. Out there they picked up a few more members Tim Regan (formerly of Snowglobe) and Will McDonald (bass).

Without ever having played a live show, the band recorded their self-titled debut which is equal parts The Shins, Modest Mouse and unabashed wide-eyed romance and awkward quirks. Their lyrics read like a childrens book on acid, "so, let's ride bikes into the sea / and catch a bus outside the reef" but ends in a quaintly morbid realisation of loss that brings it back to 20-something woes "but if i die / i guess that you'll die, too"...

Basically, these guys have something. They're still unsigned, but it's in the works, and you should expect BIG things from them very soon. This year they've already played Lollapalooza and opened for The Flaming Lips and Gnarls Barkley. But, for those of you in LA it is your chance to see them in a great, intimate venue, and consequently, party yr ass off. They play tonight @ Dim Mak + Filter's Cinespace party:

Also, check out these select track (thanks to CYSTSFTS and i Guess I'm Floating):

Oh No! Oh My! - Walk In The Park
Oh No! Oh My! - I Love You All The Time
